Ok so the I was thinking and the newsletter is not working. So I thought why not do a blog instead. We can add pictures and write info etc. So I thought this might be a little easier.
This is a lot easier since I already have a blog. It matches this one, but mine is blue. I've had it for months now. I definitely think this is better! Because I do this all the time. Emails are just hard for me.
Yay! I'm excited...this will definitely be a lot easier for me at least. Or maybe it's just easier because I actually have time today to write something. So, here's my life update: I put in my two weeks notice yesterday at KPMG...yes, no more auditing!!! You have no idea how excited I am. I decided to take a month off for myself to become sane again and then I'm back to work at a business consulting firm doing IT/business consulting for small to medium size businesses. The hours should be a lot more reasonable, less travelling, and I'll actually be doing a job that's helping people instead of being the dreaded and hated auditor.
So, yes...I'm still single. Sad, huh? Not really, I love it - but I know that I need to start seriously dating sometime or else I'm going to get selfish with my ways and never want to get married. But, I'm enjoying it while I can. So, last month I was trying to just take some vacations so I wouldn't get burned out and quit my job on a rash decision (a lot of good that did...but at least I got to use some of my vacation days). So I went to hawaii for a 5 days and Costa Rica for 10.
Here's a blurb about my Costa Rica trip (copied from my family website): Well, I made it back from Costa Rica safely with some pretty amazing stories to tell but sadly enough no tan to show for it. So my expectations of being completely lazy, lying on a beautiful costa rica beach reading books and being entertained by monkeys running all around me was quickly replaced by 10 days of a purely adventurous vacation.
To start off with, I mistakenly worked my butt off the week before vacation with very little sleep knowing that I'd have tons of time to make up sleep during vacation. Consequently, my first day in Costa Rica I was met by a horrific sore throat, something involving lots of inflamation and puss, and essentially not allowing me to swallow or talk. Not only was I in terrible pain and no dose of dayquil / nyquil / pain killers / coating could help, I was also in a 3rd world country with no idea of where to go. After a few days of trying to tough it out and be the bigger "woMan" I buckled down, had Mia called her dad who's a doctor, and he informed me of a prescription antibiotic that I could probably buy at a pharmacy (gotta love the lack of prescriptions needed in Costa Rica). Anyways, after a few days i felt better.
So our adventures began in the rainforest: zip lining in the treetops (600 ft above ground), hiking up to a volcano, bathing in hot springs, observing toucans monkeys iguanas, etc
We then made our way down to the Pacific Coast to visit several beach towns (although the rainforest runs right up to the beach) namely Mal Pais, Montezuma, St Theresa, Jaco. Our favorite place to stay was this bungalow that was set in the rainforest with only a hard roof and netting for the sides, hammocks on our deck, 200 meters from the beach, howler monkeys above, and iguanas all around...all for just $18 a person. Unfortunately the day that we actually made it down to the beautiful beaches a tropical storm set in churning up all the water and bringing up tons of debris along the shoreline. And the storm remained for 6 days...so no sunshine, no pretty beaches, no good waves. We still surfed in a storm, rented ATVs in a down pour, jumped off 50 foot waterfalls, swam by boa constrictors dens, went on a killer crocodile tour, and occupied our days trying to find monkeys.
10 Days later, 10 lbs heavier, 10 shades lighter, 10X happier....but still can only speak maybe 5 words of Spanish - good thing the guys were fluent :) Note to self: Learn Spanish
